Shooting on Susanna Fenoglio in her shops

Client & Entrepreneur herself, she has almost become an “Ambassador of Malaika” as she has chosen the outfit with Electric Blue high-waisted trousers and 2in1 shirt to fit in her magical emporium of eyewear boutique. Ocularium in Turin bears a Latin name: a Latin name for a shop that looks like Ollivanders’ magic wands: between drawers and open shelves crammed with boxes of glasses of all kinds, antique furnishings and velvet sofas, a grand piano right in front of the window, a wall-mirror and plants all wrapped by these tentacles of light on the ceiling spreading throughout the entire shop… the impression is to enter a magical emporium where drawers do hide wonderful secrets.

In this shooting, you can see the unique multi-functional kaftan in White, hand-painted by Sarah Bowyer – www.sarahbowyer.eu artist at the back.

Description

This very 1st collection of unique pieces came out through the union of collected fabrics (remnants of various continents as well as years of travels) and the utter sensibility towards quality over quantity. Thus, using Linens, Silk Shantungs, Cottons and traditional Batiks altogether to form a collection that could stand out and on its own wherever it may be.
Specifically, the double-breasted jacket as well as the trousers and multi-functional kaftan were handpainted by artist Sarah Bowyer, to give each piece that sense of eclectic taste yet fully Made in Italy.

A journey of Unisex -Man & Woman- interaction of shells and textile batik of 1990 in purple and black mixed with silver thread.

These specific  pieces have accompanied me throughout many voyages, from Indonesia to Usa, to Europe and finally Italy where I decided to give them a new life again in this shooting on Matha and Aldo @claudiapourtoujours, a splendid location in the heart of Torino where this ancient building of Corbetta Bellini of Lessolo as well as natural light merge into one making their way to you by giving you that sense of warm embrace I constantly feel connected too.

Shells have been chosen to stay @mao_torino (summer 2021) as well as be exposed in Milano next year @milanojewelryweek, @artistarjewel, @overjewels precisely in the fall of 2022.

Shooting in Milano in collaboration with @CastingBambini during Milano Fashion Week, Teatro Arcimboldi

      Photography by @ilariasilviaphotography

This collaboration with @CastingBambini was definitely a special one during the Milano Fashion Week in September 2020; the location gave us all the energy as well as the power to carry out a variety of colors and mood; from the modern and grand theater to the most memorable late September weather, sunny and breezy, perfect for the photographers to capture the simplicity and clearness of the outfit worn by the young multi-ethnical models.

This time in collaboration with a wonderful casting association to emphasize the fact that Malaika is for everyone.

        Modern Warriors

“Modern Warriors” in Torino, chez Claudia Pour Toujours

This shooting was dedicated to the 1st Fashion pieces of Malaika and after having read Federica Schifano’s article on her blog, I fell in love with the title.

The goal behind this mini Collection is Slow Fashion but most of all the Unicity within each style.
There are 3 sizes per style, each one worked out differently to highlight their irreplicability.

It is of utter importance to emphasize the uniqueness and singleness of each piece as each one stands on its own despite being part of an ensemble.
Malaika reinforces and prizes artisan-made quality over quantity and industrialization….
Ultimately, Less is More just as Ludwig Mies van der Rohe once said.

Most of the pieces are hand-painted by artist Sarah Bowyer – www.sarahbowyer.eu dedicating this collection to Indonesia.
